Açorianos Award
The 3rd Açorianos Award of Visual Arts, promoted by the Municipal Secretary of Culture of Porto Alegre this past May, gave to the Iberê Camargo Foundation the trophy for best Institution in the year 2008. The exhibition Places Unfolded, shown at the Foundation from December 9th 2008 to March 9th 2009, was contemplated in the Collective category, and gave the artists Elaine Tedesco and Karin Lambrecht the awards of Sculpture and Painting, respectively.
Karin was the great winner of the night and also won the trophy as the Special Featured Artist of the Year. The jury, composed of Gisele Menezes, Walmor Corrêa, Mara Caruso, Gaudêncio Fidelis and Ana Flávia Baldisseroto, indicated a total of 73 names, among artists, groups, curators, cultural institutions and sponsors, for 15 categories. The ceremony began with a tribute to Xico Stockinger, and also honored the journalists Décio Presser and Luis Carlos Lisboa.
