Print Studio

Walmor Corrêa is taking part in the Iberê Camargo Foundation Print Studio Invited Artist Programme from September 30 until October 3. Awarded two Açorianos Prizes in 2008 (Distinction in Sculpture and Special Distinction for 2007), he will be producing a print using the materials and press that belonged to the Rio Grande do Sul artist. At 11:30 on Saturday the 4th, Walmor will give a public talk in the Foundation auditorium. Admission is free.
As a draughtsman and painter, the artist has constructed a body of work connected with biology and morphology, creating a series of fantastic beings: imaginary insects and hybrid animals minutely described and classified. For his work in the print studio, Walmor has taken his correlation between art and science as inspiration for creating a cognitive mapping of Iberê’s brain. The neurologist Amauri Dalacorte has assisted him in producing the work.
Correa has shown in 11 solo and 22 group exhibitions in Brazil and countries such as Belgium, Spain, Austria, USA, Argentina and Chile. He was given a special room at the 26th São Paulo International Biennial (2004) and in 2008 took part in the Arte pela Amazônia – Arte e Atitude exhibition at the São Paulo Biennial Foundation and took his solo show Memento Mori to Galeria Laura Marsiaj Arte Contemporânea in Rio de Janeiro.
