With temperature-controlled water, the gelatine is transferred to the copper plate previously prepared with aquatint ground.
The paper is removed with the developed and fixed gelatine image remaining.
After drying, the photo is etched on the copper with ferric chloride with controlled temperature producing different densities.

- Nelson Leirner, born in São Paulo (SP) in 1932. Multimedia artist, he lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
Process:
After a conversation in the studio, it was agreed that the print would be made electronically.
Images based on appropriations from Roy Lichtenstein and Damien Hirst were inverted in the computer and transferred to photo-lith (negative transparency) and then to screen-printing. The image on the silkscreen was printed on the metal (copper) plate with screen-printing ink mixed with bitumen (suitable for etching).
Etching with ferric chloride was flat, resulting in high contrast between the circles, lines and background.
Nelson Leirner asked for the circles on the edges to be white and just their outlines marked in black. A sticker was then added to isolate the inner part of the black circles.
For final composition of the print, he sent a sheet of coloured circles to be stuck onto the circles of the print by the spectator .
This print is part of the artist’s "Eu e os outros" series.
